LHS’ JROTC cadets receive top honor during recent inspection
Lancaster, TX/ Lancaster ISD/ December 13, 2011– The JROTC cadets/students of Lancaster High School performed exceptionally well and revalidated their standing as a JROTC Honor Unit with Distinction (HUD). This rating is awarded to the Top Ten Percent of JROTC programs in the nation.
Even though inspection was just last week, Major Eric Mosely said that they have been preparing for a while.
“We started to prepare on the first day of school,” he said. “Each student was given a Curriculum Knowledge Package to study, we marched for 15 minutes every other day and held weekly uniform inspections to teach the students how to wear the uniform correctly.”
The honor unit inspection audit takes place every third year. The program’s last inspection was March 9, 2009. During that inspection, they also validated their standing of being a JROTC Honor Unit with Distinction.
The first part of the inspection was student-led with high-ranking students giving detailed reports about the areas they supervise. They then faced a Q&A from the inspectors. In all, 137 students participated in the inspection.
The next project is the Military Ball, which is tentatively scheduled for Feb. 4, 2012.
